The School Report, also known as the counselor recommendation, is a component of a college application process that includes a form, and may include a transcript, recommendation letter, School Profile (if available), etc. The School Report can provide a sense of how a student performs within the context of their graduating class at school. It is a required component of the National College Match application for high school seniors, but it is not a component of the College Prep Scholars Program application.
The School Report helps QuestBridge and our college partners evaluate the applicant relative to other students at their school. The School Report should be filled out by the student's current high school counselor. It cannot be filled out by a counselor from a previous school or another institution. If a school counselor is unable to complete the report, or if such reports are usually completed by someone other than a counselor at your school, it is acceptable for another school administrator to fill it out instead.
The form includes questions about your student's academic performance and personal qualities, as well as space for you to include a letter of recommendation. Additionally, you should include a School Profile (if available), your student’s transcript, any additional information on your high school, and if requested by your student, their test score reports. Note that some students may not want to submit test scores as part of their application, so before submitting, it is best to confirm if they’d like you to submit a test score report on their behalf. Students can also upload their transcripts and test score reports through their application.
