Activities offer a full picture of how you spend your time outside the classroom—your passions, your responsibilities, your role within your family or community, and how you engage meaningfully in your free time.
When completing your Activities section, consider including the experiences that give the most insight into your life and how your time is occupied.
In the College Prep Scholars application, there is an open writing space for each of the three activity types:
- Paid work (e.g., part-time job, summer work, internships)
- Home or family responsibilities (e.g., caring for siblings, translating documents, helping with family business)
- Extracurriculars or other activities (e.g., athletics, clubs, volunteering, hobbies)
Reflect on the following questions to identify which activities to include and how to best describe them to strengthen your application.
- What roles do you take on to meet important needs in your home?
- What responsibilities do you have outside of the classroom?
- How do you actively engage with your community?
- How much time do you dedicate to your activities?
- What accomplishments are you proud of?
You may use a bulleted list or paragraphs to highlight your involvement. Regardless of which format you choose, remember that the Activities section, like other application sections, is an opportunity to showcase your writing and organizational skills.
