You are required to report non-custodial parent information to us (and to colleges in the future), except in cases where there has been significant no contact or extenuating circumstances such as violence or police involvement. Typically, non-custodial parents are expected to contribute financially to their child’s education, and therefore QuestBridge and colleges need information about their income and assets.
When you apply for financial aid in the fall of senior year, you may need to fill out a non-custodial parent waiver for each college in order to have your non-custodial parent's financial information excluded from consideration for financial aid. This is not a waiver for QuestBridge, and there is nothing a student will need to fill out for our QuestBridge applications. However, for each individual school that a student is applying to, it may be something the colleges require to exclude the non-custodial parent's financial information. You can contact the college financial aid offices directly for more information about this. If you have any questions about your financial circumstances in general, reaching out to the financial aid offices of the colleges you are interested in is the best way to get an answer.
