Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is a term used by many institutions to refer to the amount that a student and the student's family are expected to contribute to the cost of college based on their income, assets, and household situation. Our college partners may also use similar phrases, such as "parent contribution" and "family share," to describe this amount.
All Finalists are selected by QuestBridge because we believe they meet the qualifications, both financially and academically, to be competitive candidates for a Match Scholarship.
Selection for the Match Scholarship is made by each college individually, and their policies vary, so your EFC calculation may vary from school to school. Some schools may look for a $0 EFC for Match Scholarship Recipients, while others may not. Since our college partners are committed to making college affordable, we encourage students to rank all schools they would want to attend, regardless of this financial aspect.
